Hello everyone!

Year 6 have had a very busy first term. Hard work and preparation has started for our forth coming SATS examinations. Children are working very hard on personal targets and are striving to reach the next stage of their learning.

Our topics so far have been Ancient Greece and Rivers. We have done some very interesting work around these areas.

For instance, we have undertaken our own archaeological dig at Westbourne and investigated historical artefacts and anachronisms. As part of our rivers topic, we have written persuasive letters to world leaders, asking them to save endangered animals living near rivers of the world.

We have also visited some extremely interesting places. The workshop at Leeds City Museum helped us understand how the Ancient Greeks lived.

Our residential to Ingleborough Hall taught us all about the journey of a river. We also got to know one another better and overcame fears, through our challenging activities. These included adventure caving and tree climbing. Have a look at our short film on the Year 6 page!

We are very much looking forward to our new topics next term. These include Dragon’s Den (business) and Shakespeare in English.
