Target Time Helpers

At Westbourne, we have dedicated time in our day for children to work on individual targets that will help them in their other lessons.  We have developed our own system where children in Year 6 help children in different year groups with their individual learning.

It has proven effective for all children as those who require help have 1:1 support from a peer and Year 6 begin to deepen their understanding by learning how to explain how to complete tasks rather than just doing them.

This system provides opportunity for children to build relationships with others while also giving children the opportunity to develop their leadership and problem-solving skills.

“Being a Target Time Helper meant that we were able to help children struggling with their own targets.  It was nice to be able to help someone and watch them be able to do it after you had worked with them”

– Malaika (Year 6)
